You don't have buy their cards. You can make them yourself.
I can think of no more able crowd to do so than the people here at deviantART and it doesen't even have to be proffetional or anything. Just use whatever artistic talent you have or whatever you feel like expressing yourself in. You don't have to be a wizard with words.
My talent is mainly more visual and I had problems expressing myself in words(was trying to put up a poem). So although I wrote something I left most of my expression to me photo. You can do the same and express your appriciation through your talent, through what you want to express in. There aren't any limits here, you could record a file, you could code a webpage and sent it in a link. Although the traditional pen is charming you shouldn't be afraid trying new things. If you don't want to make something, giving them flowers never gets old.
It's never to late!. If you appriciate someone and want to let them know, either anonymously or not it's never to late. My card is probably going to be late due to crappy Norwegian crappy postoffice, but that doesen't matter cause the thought and the content of the card is what truly counts. 14 February, Valentines Day is simply a reminder of a way we can express ourselves. So it's never too late, you can still make something.
It's not 14th at time of writing but those of you who are reading this tomorrow: happy Valentines Day! My hopes are that this will be an exiting, passionate and emotion-filled day for you. Whoever you are.
Thought I'd show some of my love-related stuff here. Not very good, but at least hope it could provide some inspiration. The roses are quite new, but some of the stuff(the graphics thing) is really old. Love can also make people feel loneley so I also included one about that as well.
